Quill seat post **********

I was at the my LBS today I said I like a leather saddle on a bike in his "junk" pile He handed me a cresent wrench and said I'm not taking it of for you . Once the seat was off it had a bolt on top of the seat post ? Loosened it up and it came out easy . It is designed like a quill stem never seen one like that before today.

Not sure how many existed but I've had two old Kabuki's pass through my hands last year and both had that quill seat post.

Be certain to grease the post, bolt and wedge and re-grease them periodically so that they do not seize. There were also made posts with a conical expander and 4 slots at the bottom which worked the same way.

Peugeot also used this design as did other brands undoubtedly. A very old method actually. Andy

Most of the quills are tightened by a bolt on the side, I think, and not straight through the top of the post Or, perhaps it is a combination of the two.

Seat post is worth as much as the saddle. Go back and get it.

The Schwinn aluminum PDG series bikes used this type of seatpost in the late 1980s early 1990s. These are 2 examples. Roger
