Blocking shimano brifter

Thinking about a roadbike/dropbar 1x setup with a 11-36 in the back. Is it possible to have the left brifter blocked as to make the lever not be able to move sidewards? With no cable tension i imagine it will be too loose.

pick one:

stick a shift cable through it and clamp the end to something immobile other than a front derailer

do nothing and just ignore it because its not an issue

replace the brifter with a normal brake lever and save some grams
