Proper tension for a Brooks B66 saddle?

I own a Brooks B66 which came with the bike I bought in 1994. Nicely broken in and fun to ride. Now last year one of the lower double brackets broke and I had to replace it. This meant taken the tension out completely and re-tightening after I had it back together.
But now I don't know what the correct tension should be. I may have tightened it too much because now my sit bones start hurting after a few miles.
I am trying to find out what the proper tension should be so that I can enjoy this saddle again.

Beats me, i'd have to see it...

Tension really can only be, accurately described, in torque wrench numbers..

newton-meters , foot-pounds, etc. IMHO go by feel. you say its too tight? back it off, some.

I rode a Brooks saddle for years and rarely made any adjustments. As fietsbob said, if it is too tight back it off some. You don't want to pull the leather too tight. In this case your posterior may be more accurate than a torque wrench.

When I tension a Brooks, I can feel a point where turning the wrench further leads to a significantly increased resistance. Stop there.

I think I am getting there. I noticed I had tightened it too much so it hurt my sit bones after just a few minutes. I am still playing with it now to find the "sweet spot".

Go for rides carrying the wrench. Make adjustments until it feels right.
