Cracked rim?
I sent my powertab hub off to powertap for new bearings. They told me that my rim was cracked.
I got my wheel back and looked for the crack. I see where the ends of the aluminum come together. But I can't find a "crack". Is there a place I should be looking in particular? Is it possible that they would think the annealed joint is the crack? I mean they do this for a living, and it's a powertap-branded aluminum wheel.

"welded Rims" are first welded, then machined smooth... when the weld cracks, the line is crooked, not straight... welded/machined aluminum rims are not very common.
more than likely, your rim has a PLATED/PINNED joint. Is the line at the joint straight edged? Then the joint is plated/pinned. It is quite normal to have a bit of a straight line obvious at the joint, and unless it has opened more than a tiny bit, the rim is fine.... some pinned rims have machined brake tracks, but the inner joining will show a bit of a line.
get the rim out in the sunlight, take a real close look at the joint with a magnifying glass.... and inspect every spoke hole, too.
