Saddle Rail Question
I need to replace my dropper seat post, which has about a 20mm setback. The old post would connect to the saddle rail in the middle. I may be able to get a deal on a new dropper but it doesn't have a setback. If I did, the saddle rail would be clamped near the front end of the rail. Is that an issue?

whether it bends rails depends on how hard your rump lands on the seat when you're landing from a jump.... and the strength of the rails.
some riders bend seat rails regularly... others never bend a rail, ever. The kid i ride with bends rails so badly that the seat needs to be CUT off of the post when he finally replaces it... i never bend rails, but i rarely jump just to fly through the air, so....
there's one more factor... how often do you replace a gouged, torn to rat snot, seat? seats are consumables on MTB's, IMO... like brake pads, tires, chains, sprockets, pedals, grips, etc....

rails may bend after a while.... short term probably OK.
