Old bottom bracket

I have an early '70's shauff road bike with a pressed cup bottom bracket. The inside diameter of the BB shell is 40mm and, obviously, isn't threaded. I was wondering if there are any conversion kits to change this over so I can use modern bottom brackets.

Do you know what the outside diameter of that is, I've found that those are designed for the solid cranks and are usually to big.

I have since found out that those conversion kits are indeed too large for the bb shell currently on my frame. My goal is to upgrade to cartridge system so I don't have to deal with finding parts all the time, plus I would really like to have some choices as to equipment.

If the cups and races are still clean, you can still get bearings for it.
