Does a bottom bracket have reverse threads? I don’t know much about it other than square taper and a set of Shimano cranks fit on it fine.
The chain side was turned with my fingers counter clockwise trying to remove it. It got tight and stopped turning. I can’t get it to losen and spin by tapping with a hammer/screwdriver in either direction. I thought I’d stop and ask before using the j correct tool with excessive force.

That side IS reverse threaded.

Thank you. I decided not to muck it up and buy a tool. In seeing it, I realized I still had my father in law’s.
I also got my chain guard installed at the same time. Unfortunately I didn’t get the cranks 180 degrees out the first time.
