Grass isn't greener...

Good's afternoon folks, I have been trying to update an old Nishiki Olympic 10 sp. Today I tried changing the BB to a Shimono Sealed bearing . It actually worked and everything fit pretty tight. I was feeling pretty proud of myself until It was time to put the crank arms back on!! A whole different configuration 😣😣 I know have to get different arms and chainset. In disgust and several choice words, I put the old BB back.on. Now the hunt to find more crap for an antiquated bike but for now a bucket of chicken and a beer😁😁

Apparently you didn't read the replies in this thread. Your bike has a cottered crank. If you wish to upgrade to a sealed bearing square taper cotterless bottom bracket, you need a new crank. just as in this thread: Disc breaks, you ask about an upgrade to a technology that didn't exist when your bike was built. Learn about your bike so that you can find out what is possible to do with it. Otherwise you are going to waste a ton of money

In addition to paying attention to previously given advice, I'd suggest you ditch the italics. More difficult to read your posts and no need to try to grab attention as folks have already opened the thread. Check out C&V if you like nicer old bikes.
