Loctite 480 (Red) on a bottom bracket?
I watched a YouTube video about installing a PF30 bottom bracket, and they put Loctite 480 around the cups of either end before inserting them into the frame. I am thinking that I should use Loctite 242 (Blue) instead because Loctite 480 (Red) is a permanent bond and bottom brackets are designed to be removed.

I would not use red Loctite for anything I might EVER need to take apart; you need to heat it to 500F to get things apart. What does the BB manufacturer recommend?

First, Loctite 480 isn't red, it's black. It's also a rubberized adhesive to give better shock and vibration resistance and is particularly recommended for metal to plastic bonding like bottom bracket bearing to a carbon shell.

Loctite 480 is a rubber based instant adhesive and is definitely the wrong product for that application. Loctite 242 is a thread locking compound and is not very useful in press fit applications either. The proper product for that application is Loctite 680, which is a retaining compound for slip fit parts.
