What part is this? Cervelo P2C
Hello everyone I am wondering what this part is for a cervelo p2c I think it goes around the fork as some sort of compression bearing but I'm not sure. It is plastic and seems to fit around the fork tube.

Is it a circle with a break in it? It may be the wedge that is the last piece to put into the top of the headset before you put your spacers and stem on.

So I will rephrase. The split ring is the last essential piece before the spacers and stem. Here's a diagram from wikipedia. The piece we're talking about is labeled the "conical compression ring"

That diagram is not accurate. I have NEVER seen a threadless headset that didn't have a bearing cover/dust cover over the compression ring. I'm not sure where you're from but they ALL have this part. It is not a spacer, but can be thin like the Cane Creek in the first photo or tall like the FSA in the second photo.

That's an ancient ball-in-retainer headset. It's quite unique in that the bearing cover is tapered internally and the compression ring goes into it...very unique. I'll say no modern headset comes w/o a bearing cover. I forgot about the original Aheadset.

That design stuck around much longer than the original Aheadset model and it is certainly not unique, nor ancient. I have one stock on a 2008 bike from after they changed the brand to Cane Creek, and that same Cane Creek model was still available on Amazon until covid messed up the supply chains:
