1. I will use Shimano Ultegra bar-end shifters
2. The crankset is the old one on the 15 year old bike. I didn't find a brand on it: It's black aluminium with three chainrings 28 to 52. (I cannot yet post photos here.)

With friction ft shift lever no need to match up indexing aspects. Instead the cage profile is the big detail. A deep enough inner cage plate to better push on the chain when going up off the inner ring and a outer cage plate cure that is for a 50+ ring size. Oh, and not too narrow. So no 10+ speed ders. Older MtB ders are a good possibility as long as they are speced for a 48T or larger big ring. I have bought SunTour and Shimano examples from the early 1990s off E bay a number of times but my big rings are no larger then 48T. The most recent Shimano we use as a new replacement is the FD-3030, a road triple. Micro shift has their versions too but that info is not at my fingertips. Andy
