Trek 2.1 BB Help Please

So my Trek 2.1 needs a new bottom bracket. The BB is marked with BC1.37x24 then tightening directions. No model numbers or any thing. I ordered a Shimano 105 Ultegra SM-BBR60 Hollowtech II Threaded 68mm / 70mm Bottom Bracket. I removed my non drive crank this morning grabbed the park removal tool which fits the BBR60. The tool is to small for the BB that is currently on the bike. Did I order the wrong part, if so what part should I have ordered. The following is on the crank: Shimano SG-X 10S 50-5.The OP of the old BB is 44.40MM. I am in a nut shell confused. Please help me.

Shimano has two different cup sizes for HT II bottom brackets and make an adaptor tpo fit the larger tool onto the smaller cups. It sounds like you have the smaller tool and larger cups.

So I need to order the larger size cap? Or will the smaller cap work as a replacement

Sounds like you need the larger 44mm tool to remove your existing BB and the 39mm tool to install the new BB

I priced the other tool and how long it was going to take to get it. Decided to go to the LBS to have the old bottom bracket loosened. Left with a dirty grease bike. I feel it is good I am learning to do more on my bikes. One side the bearings are noticeably loose the other side not so much. I installed the new BBR-60. I still had a damn squeak. I removed the brooks saddle and replace with an old saddle I had laying around just in case. Squeak stopped.
