Question about 3-pack mount on carbon fork

I have a Whisky CXLR carbon fork with 3-pack mounts.

I took out the plastic plugs to install bolts but the bolts will only go in half way before bottoming out (even though the bolts are several mm shorter than the plastic plugs). Of course the bolts are wider at the tip than the plastic plugs.

I thought it might be because the internal dynamo routing was in the way BUT it's the same on both sides and only one side has internal routing

So I either need shorter bolts or I'm missing something?

Any ideas? Thanks

Could be paint buildup in the threads at the bottom of the insert; could be the threads at the bottom of the hole didn't get fully tapped. Either way, running a chasing tap down the holes should sort things out.

(You are using the correct bolts , right?)

You need to get a bottoming tap. As the name implies, it's specifically made for extending threads to the bottom of blind holes.
