Tape Residue

Can someone recommend a tape that leaves a bad/annoying residue to get off? Something that wont straight up ruin paint but will be a pain to meticulously clean without solvents. Thanks

Um…you want sticky residue to remove? Pick just about any adhesive tape. The longer it sits on whatever, usually the more residue is left. Cheap duct tape and hot temperatures will make for a wonderfully difficult mess to remove.

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

Acetone is great on non-painted surfaces but OMS or Kerosine (W40) works well and is usually harmless to paint.

I use goo-gone, which is a product containing a solvent from citrus fruit (d-limonene). I've found this to be much better than anything else I've tried (propanol, OMS, gasoline) for getting sticky adhesives off.

Again, trust me, but verify (test for paint campatibiliy on a non-obvious surface) . But goo-gone (the original professional formula in a small bottle) works great for me for just this purpose.

Tape that is only left on a surface for an hour or two isn't going to leave much, if any residue. It takes years for that

Felt that its tertiarily related to cycling.
You "felt" wrong.

Leaving a note Scotch taped to the motorbike would get the point across, whatever it is. Whoever owns it will be infuriated to find that someone touched the bike. No point in being a d*ck about it.

Bikes: Look 765 Optimum, Spesh Aethos

Deda Carbon look handlebar tape not only leaves a nasty residue but also these annoying fine strings behind.

i'd try Fly Paper.... that stuff is oily/gooey and resists most soaps/solvents.... not sure if it reacts with automotive paints though...

a revenge i've heard about is to squeeze superglue into the driver's door lock..... just a rumor i've heard.... no one would actually do that, would they?

it's amazing how many misunderstood your post.

the lead salesman at a dealership i worked at was bragging about his new Ford Lightning PU... then mentioned he was considering getting it wrapped since "they are ALL black"... so we wrapped it for him with an entire roll of shipping saran wrap... tires included....exhaust tips, windshield wipers....basically everything.

he quit bragging about his new truck, but took pics and hung one on his office wall with the Title: "Be specific when instructing co-workers"
