OK, you talked me out of it. Classic style with a good clamp it is. Biggest consideration is that I realized it doesn't tilt to allow me easier access to the brake bolts under the chainstay, which I find myself accessing often as I change wheels on the gravel bike. Thanks all!

I actually 3 bike work stands, all get used. I have on similar to the one in the original post, Feedback Sport. That is used for more in depth type bike work, especially if the work on the bike is going to take more than one session. My bike work area is at my enclosed rear deck, where I have a wall mount, Foundation work stand within easy reach of my tools and equipment. That can be rotated and and swiveled horizontally to lower/raise front or back. That gets used the most. My 3rd one is cheap tripod type that also rotates, has height adjustment, and can be swivel horizontally. I use that only for cleaning and basic lube/maintenance. It is not a very stable stand. I also take that with when traveling with a bike, which is close to any time I travel.

Former shop mechanic who also prefers the Park seatpost clamp-type stand, and who never saw an alternative stand in three shops from Burbank to Chico. The BB/Fork style seem more of a pain than they're worth.

I prefer the Silca Hirobel frame clamp mounted in whatever common stand you want. I hate clamping to a seat post as I would have to remove my saddle bag and it's awkward. This thing just supports the top tube with no pressure other than the weight of the bike itself. Perfect for carbon frames, but just plain easy for any bike with a top tube.
