Ultegra shifting stuck (mechanical)

Hello. This os my friend's bike.
He said won't shift, but somehow when the bike it is upside down it works without any problem.

https://youtube.com/shorts/yfulB3ev9lw?feature=share

How I can solve this?

Are you spinning the crank while you try to shift? They don't really work all that hot without the chain moving through the cogs/rings are you try to shift them.

Cable is not inserted , and even if it is the effect is not different

You do know that the derailleur is spring loaded, and the shifter is expecting the pull of the derailleur in order for it to work as intended?

Ofc. Even with tension applied to the entire mechanisms the internal "barrel" looks blocked at some point.

I ran into this once on an older 9-speed Ultegra. The ratchet pawl on that one was on the bottom of the mechanism. Its return spring was broken, and it would only engage when the shifter was upside down. It took a while to figure that one out. There was no repair for that.

Is the cable installed and tension being put on the cable during the theatrical performance for the camera? As other's mentioned not having the cable with tension on it and doing all the needless shifting, anything might happen.

The spring I referred to wouldn't be visible without complete disassembly, on the bench. It's not the shift lever, but one of very small ratchet pawls deep inside the mechanism, and the spring is slightly larger than you'd see in an old analog watch.

Give the mechanism a good flush with some spray solvent of some type. Click the shifter through the gears many times to free up any dried grease and gunk and spray some more solvent to flush out the gunk. Go for a ride to see if that helps and then add some lube if its good. Of course this won't work with broken parts but is the first thing I would try before breaking out the tools. YouTube should have a few vids on flushing if you want to see it in action.
