"IGH" equals "Internal Geared Hub.".. no derailleur dangling in harm's way, less chain slap, etc...
they do have their own problems though... finicky adjustment, occasional stripped gears, kind of a pain to clean/lube the internals, as heavy as a brick of lead.....
one 8 sp. IGH i removed a while back weighed 3.5 lbs... the swap to a regular hub/cassette/der./V-brake shaved 1.5 lbs. off that Rans Fusion Recumbent bike, and it rolled easier when not pedaling too... the owner IMMEDIATELY noticed that....

Thanks, makes sense. Ad said it was missing the derailleur so it kind of threw me.

I doubt that is true. If they knew what they had, the Rohloff would have figured prominently in the add and the price would have been at least double. It was not even mentioned.

note the front hub and fork pics... the xt brake lever pic, etc.
and it appears those pics were taken by a very tall person.....
like, about 6' 8"........
i think you are speculating without reason, and insulting someone that hasn't earned insults.
most prospective buyers have never heard of Rolhoff IGH hubs... including the Thread starter
ps.. it's "ad" not "add"

now.. for ALL the nay-sayers... how many tweaker thieves do you think live in a Spotless Clean suburban home with fancy inlaid paver borders on the concrete driveway and a Double (at least) Garage?
and how many would openly advertise a High end, special-order, Custom MTB without spray painting over the brand name?

I'm not going to question the price. Not too many people would be able to ride that. Wonder why they ran the brake hose down under also. Has the guides over the top.
