Cleaning brake hoods

Wondering what people have done to clean their brake hoods.

I have used dish soap and warm water.

Left the hoods a little sticky.

They were not sticky before

Cannot wait to hear all the ways.

Appreciate your help and time

Yes, they tend to feel a bit sticky compared to when they were covered with sweat and body oil. That said, other than being a bit harder to mount due to that stickiness, they will return to stasis after a couple of rides. I clean mine with something like dish soap and have done so for many decades.

Cleaned up a set of Exage hoods earlier today using a mild water based degreaser then went over them with Pedro's Lust. Still sticky, but I'm hoping that the silicone treatment will help somehow. Not sure how, just hoping! lol
