SRAM I-Motion 3 Cable Connection Link?
I have a broken cable connection link and SRAM has chosen to discontinue parts support for all internal gear hubs. I refuse to write off a functioning hub over not being able to find one small part. I have found the part at various places but SRAM does not allow them to ship to Canada.
I have 3 options: find someone willing to ignore SRAM' s prohibition and ship to me; find a Canadian source; or make one myself. Does anyone know of someone who can make the first 2 options work? Or, does anyone have the dimensions and specs for one so that I can make one? - for this, I need the slot length and width, material used, etc.
Thank you

I would PM me and we can chat I might be able to get you that part and ship it off. That is if you cannot find a Canadian shop, look for some older shops and especially commuter and IGH focused stuff maybe further out then your local shops if they don't have it. You could also call older shops in the U.S. who may not care. Mt. Airy Bicycles and Yellow Jersey would be good places to ask as they are old hoarders and have all sorts of odd and old stuff.
SRAM bought out Sachs and then torpedoed them a while later (hahahaha, if you don't get that joke you are missing out) It is a bit of a shame but it happens. At least you didn't have to try and find parts for a pre buyout Sachs 7 speed hub on basically the equivalent of a wallymart bike from Norway, Andrew at Yellow Jersey had the part we needed but it was attached to a complete system and understandably they didn't want to break up the set and the customer didn't want to buy the whole thing and trying to get some other parts for the bike was impossible as well and trying to get in touch with Norwegian shops proved to be a bust and the company that bought out that company was in Sweden and they were helpful as much as they could be but the company never reached out thankfully the customer ended up picking up the bike and bringing it back home and getting it fixed there but the amount of time spent was ridiculous, Fauber or some oddly sized Fauber/Ashtabula type system, NO THANKS!

Another option might be to buy a complete hub, have spare everything for future.

Ya know, I didn't get SRAM's decision. They wanted to get out of IGH - okay. But they didn't sell the business, intellectual property and tooling to somebody else?
The G8, G9 and i9 - meh. But the i3, P5 and S7 were fine pieces of kit.
Was there actually a carefully considered business case here, or was it more of a snap, "*%#@, shut it down and fire everybody" kind of thing?

If you live near the US border, or have friends or relatives in the USA, arrange to ship there and pick it up when convenient.
It's sort of SOP for Canadians to make arrangements with a UPS store or similar near the border to receive and hold shipments, then pick them up when they drive over the border for other reasons.

Ebay has what you need.
I motion 3 has a bad rep because the grease around the main drive hardened over time. Prevented the reverse pawls from engaging leaving you without brakes. All it needed was to replace the grease. There was a service bulletin about it.
