Hollow Tec Pinch bolts?

Is there anything special, other than the shape, of these bolts? I am needing to replace as the socket portion is getting a bit rounded.
My thought was to use the appropriate size bolt in SS and shape the head to fit the recess.
Thoughts?

Ummm. The stock pinch bolts are pretty cheap. Depending on the class (Dura Ace, Ultegra...) the stock bolts are titanium. Pretty strong, and light.

Why are you going through the effort of shaping the head? Which, if you are starting with a socket head cap screw, will be hardened.

I'd just buy the stock screw plus a few spares*, some anti-seize (Ti and SS are both notorious for galling) and install. Heavens, you can even get the bolts in different colors. https://betterbolts.com/products/tit...pinch-bolt-kit

* The downside here is that if you have a spare, you will need a spare, and it will be impossible to remember where you stored the spare....

Been there and done this. The typical general socket headed bolts usually need a tad of head diameter reduction. A few spins against a grinder should be enough. I do like the head shape of the common bolts compared to the rounded shape the OEM bolts have. I think the greater amount of material at the top of the socket makes it slightly more rounding out resistant. Andy
