I disagree about the junk parts on so called "bso's". I purchased a Kent Torpedo "e"BMX for my granddaughter as an alternate to he regular bikes, and while there were necessary adjustments, the cheap six-speed Gripshift system, V brakes, tires, tubes, stem, hell everything was functionally adequate; now that she's outgrown it, the bike is still fine and ready for a new owner. Also, when my children were young, "bso's" were the only bikes available (except BMX's), and were fine for them.

For clueless sorts like me, perhaps you can define bso.

Sorry; this is a term that many individuals use for Walmart-type bikes and means bicycle-shaped-object.

Everything in a Walmart will be in a landfill within 10 years of purchase.

Micargi Cruiser. I don't know the exact age since it was used when I purchased it, but the company that produced the motor has been out of business for 10+ years. It's currently being ridden by my SIL.

Also, my children had bikes that were in our family for ten years, then given to others.

While I would certainly pass, I must say my wife's Huffy Beachcomber is not really that bad, heavy though.
