Fox 32 SC Remote Lockout Problem
Hey everyone -
So, I've got a Fox 32 SC on my Santa Cruz Highball that has been giving me some grief.
Exact specs here: 2019, 32, A, FLOAT SC, 29in, P-S, 100, Remote, Psh-Unlk, 2Pos, FIT4, (10pm CP), Matte Blk, No Logo, 15QRx110, 1.5 T, 44mm Rake, N/M OE
The remote lockout was working fine, but then I stupidly removed the top cap on the FIT4 damper side (where the lockout cable attaches) because I didn't want to replace the cable after doing a lower service on the fork. Well, turns out, that "unclocks" the little spring inside the top cap and then there is not enough tension in the spring to return the lockout to the locked position (it is a push to unlock).
I tried a bunch of different things to clock the spring properly without shelling out the ridiculous $60 that Fox wants for the correct tool to do this. Unfortunately, no dice.
I finally bought the tool, but now it seems like the spring inside the top is bent strangely. Essentially, it doesn't fully "lock" into the little holes on the bottom of the top cap, and when I add the correct amount of tension to it, it just slips to a different hole, essentially reducing the tension I just put into it.
I don't think these are something you can disassemble, so it appears that I need a new top cap.
There is no part number printed on the top cap, but according to the Fox website, it should be 820-05-473-KIT, but I cannot seem to find anyone selling it in the US.
There is also 820-05-455-KIT, but this one is for the Factory series 32 SC, and it has the open-mode adjust dial on it. This one is available in the US.
Would the Factory part work on my Performance model? If not, what would you all suggest that I do?
Thank you!
