Cannot remove end caps from Origin8 RD-1120 front hub

Hi
Has anyone successfully removed the end caps from the Origin8 RD-1120 convertable front hub?
I tried many methods without success:
  • Inserting a spoke into the holes in the end cap and pulling - the spoke bends easily. Tried a screwdriver and the handle broke off.
  • Blind bearing puller - it is too short to completely insert into the end cap and lock
  • Tried gripping the end cap in vice and pulling the hub rocking it from side to side - no success
The end cap can be easily moved a few millimeters back and forth.

Maybe a more practical solution is to use a 12 mm TA to QR adaptor, probably the only downside is that the edges will not have serrations.

I'm not familiar with these but if it's worth anything :

1) Can you not tap the end caps out from the other side with a rod / drift passed through the centre of the hub ?

2) There is an expanding fastener ( for masonry fixing ) called a Dynabolt ( in Australia. Photo.) Maybe an appropriate size one could be used with a slide hammer.

3) And only if you get desperate.... you could run a bead of weld around the end caps and the contracting weld as it cools may shrink the part enough for it to fall out.

Can you go through the middle of the left side & tap out the right side ?

As a follow up on this thread. I have the same hub and turns out it was pretty easy to remove. Insert the largest Allen key into the holes then just take a rod of some sort and from the other end tap gently against the Allen key. Took a few taps but came out cleanly then had to use an axle press and headstem spacers were just the right size to get them back on.
