Does anyone know if OP got his answer? I'm not sure I would do this, but you could, and then undo it later. Most vintage bikes probably had their rear triangles brutally moved around at the factory.

Yes, you can can set a frame narrower. If anything, it is the safer direction since it puts no strain on the brake bridge. |
