Despite the nice clear pictures, it is still difficult to tell what exactly is going on there. I'd be inclined to have someone experienced with carbon take a look at it in person. It is quite likely that slapping on some epoxy and riding it would be just fine, as the area near the bottom bracket shell tends to be very overbuilt on many carbon frames, but I'd still want to be sure the damage isn't more severe than it looks before doing so.

I don't think there is one right thing to do. You do have the option of putting some clear on it. But I don't think that it will help. Particularly since it doesn't appear the gash goes down to the fabric. At least not in that picture.
I'd just ride the bike and every once in a while check it to see if any bad is happening. Though at that point, a new bike or costly repair will likely be in order. But clear epoxy or other might just cover up the future bad events so you aren't able to see them happening. Till they show you otherwise at least. |
I never would’ve noticed that.
I think some of these “is this a scratch or a crack” threads are from people who spend too much time examining their bikes. |
Ride it!

Doesn't look too bad. That's DIY patchable. Mask off where you want the patch to end. Sand off the paint finish.
2 layers of CF and epoxy, tight plastic wrap and let set a day then unwrap. Trim the frayed ends when it's still not solid. Another day to harden then smooth and paint. Done. |
