"Ghisallo" sounds like Epstein's friend.

I'll show myself out...

Yeah, I always wondered why more bats and dolphins don't work at Raytheon....

It wasn't the birds figuring it out, though... it was the evolutionary process, and it took millions of years.

No excuse (or apology) is required for taking care of your plants or other living things!

Did you mean the brothers? They did use a wind tunnel. They built their own.

They decided to discard Lilienthal's data and generate their own. They built a wind tunnel, the second in America. (The first was built byAlfred Zahm.) Over the winter of 1901-1902, they tested over 200 wing shapes to find the most promising, then thoroughly investigated about 45 shapes to determine the very best. To do this, they built two instruments for their wind tunnel, one to measure lift and another to measure the ratio of lift to drag.

Charlie Taylor must have been a pretty interesting character in his own right, to be ginning up super light gas engines in 1902. "Mechanic" seems like a drastic understatement.

Their first wing-warping patent was rejected and they learned that lesson a little too hard, because their 2nd one with a patent lawyer was accepted, but that led to a 15-year patent war with all comers

Their shop in Dayton, Ohio is worth seeing.

I haven’t seen it, but yeah. The park ranger at the Kill Devil Hills memorial explained that the facility the brothers set up there really wasn’t much other than living quarters, and storage for the aircraft. Anything other than very minor maintenance resulted in the craft/component being transported back to Dayton for the work.

My wife and I want to go out to Wright Brothers National monument and museum. It's on our list.
