Bottom bracket problem

Hi
My grandson just snapped his one piece setup and i had
a bottom bracket from my mountain bike.
Got the adapters to fit the bottom bracket and used a
MTB crank set.
Now the chain ring sits too far out.
I tried spacer rings but not working.
What have i done wrong.
The bike is a Big Daddy..

Thank you.

I think that would more likely be "Try turning the adaptor around in the frame."

you'll need to use the Correct Length Bottom Bracket for that "used crankset"... cranksets tend to vary from maker to maker, and by era too.

what length BB did you install?is the spindle square on both ends, or does it use a spline?
Spindle Length and Shell width play into the equation... what is the outer width of the adapter, as mounted in the bike?

Or, try mounting the chainring on the inner plateau of the crank.
