Do you need to take the BB out to apply Frame Saver? In the only other occasion that I used it I was building a frame up so I just applied it before installing the BB but now I have a complete bike that needs its stinky protection. Has anyone tried applying it with the BB still there?

Right. You want the Frame Saver to coat the bottom bracket shell and leaving the cartridge or axle and bearings in place will mask that part of the frame. Also, Frame Saver won't do the bb any good if it seeps into the bearings.

Stinky? I think it has great smell to it, kinda like an old tool shed or the like.
