&sp cassette on 8spd hub.
I was thinking of putting together a makeshift hybrid with some old MTB components of mine. I was wondering if it is possible to put a Shimano 7spd cassette on an 8/9spd freehub? I assume they are keyed the same, and some kind of spacer would be needed?
Have any of you done this?

Need a 4.5mm spacer on the hub body before the cassette. If the 7 speed cassette is held together by big bolts on the backside, they usually need to be removed or the spacer relieved. If the cassete is a uniglide, the 8/9 hub body has to be threaded on the outside end to accept the thread on first cassette cog.
