Hello, I have just acquired a pair of shimano 600, 6400 [rear] and 6401 [front] deraillers. I was wondering, if these are these STI compatible? -and whether the 6400 is for a seven or eight speed cassette? Is the 6401 (front derailler) for a double?
Thanku much all for any info.

As for the Rear Derailleur, it should work with either 7 or 8 speed. Most Shimano is compatable with other Shimano (unless some types of Dura Ace stuff). I don't know about the FD.

That 600 stuff is quite rad. I buy it up NOS whenever I can.

These models shipped with an 8-speed cassette, but they'll be compatible with whatever speed Shimano shifter you want to use (except for pre-9-speed Dura-Ace). Both derailleurs will work just fine with STI levers. The front derailleur is designed for a double.
