ITM "The Stem"

Does anyone know where to get the ITM "The Stem" in black. All that I can ever find it in is sandy color. It you go to the ITM web site, they do show it in Black also. Does anyone know where I can find one in black?

Thanks.

I believe that it was just introduced a very short time ago, in black. Maybe you should wait a little while, then go searching for it, again?

"...do not breath directly on "The Stem". Do not stare or point at "The Stem". This is impolite and you will anger "The Stem", driving it to break and causing you to lose control of your bicycle..."

Okay, that wasn't in the warning. But that seems like a lot of worry to save a few grams...

I don't like the part where it says in the warning

“The Stem” is not compromised by prolonged use "

That isn't a warning, that's a good thing. I mean, do you want it to be compromised by prolonged use?
What it says is, "make sure it is not compromised by prolonged use."--that means check it for damage after high stress or several years of use, as you would any component of a bicycle.

It also says, "...and do not hesitate to replace it if it has been mounted for a number of years and has been much used." Obviously, it is designed to last at least "a number of years".

It is a very soft metal stem that is ultra light so extra care must be taken. It is also a very good stem and I like ITM's stuff alot. Very good quality.

I gotta agree with the earlier posts, the stem is definitely one component You wouldn't want to have compromised. Have you considered Thompson's stems? (They come in black and are damn near bullet proof!)

Exactly. Bad things happen when you break a stem.

Besides, it saves only a few grams and it's not even rotating weight. You would need a pretty accurate stopwatch to see any gains from it.

[end rant]
