My 8 speed brifter is dying
My 8 speed Dura Ace rear brifter will no longer shift down the cassette (to smaller cogs). I've been told that this is a fairly common issue.
Of all the available options, what can I do to keep the machine going that won't cost too much? I appreciate your wisdom.

if you no longer get clicks out of the shifter, you can try using WD40 or some other solevent on the shifter innards, which may get it working again. if the shifter still clicks but the derailleur does not respond, you probably need new cable & housing. you probably want to refer to

Shimano also make a replacement, it just isn't well known.
