Hello all, new member, fairly new biker, Shimano derailer question
I started doing more serious riding a few months ago and recently got a new (used) bike with Shimano Exage derailers...I am just starting to mess with adjusting stuff, so please forgive my ignorance and probable slaughtering of bike hardware terms...bike is a "Sherpa Trail" (no idea) 21 speed with thumb shifters.
The rear is fine, but the front derailer will not shift onto the largest ring; the derailer only moves about half as far as it needs to and then stops, so I have to downshift again to get it back to the middle ring and leave it there. I know there are adjustments for this, but I don't want to screw it up..any info or anywhere I can look? I searched this forum and did not find a good hit (may be my lack of knowledge of what to look for!) and I tried the shimano web site, no info on the exage series I could find. Any help or links would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Park Tool has some excellent and easy-to-follow tutorials on derailer adjustment. Please see https://parktool.com/repair/byregion.asp?catid=53 and check out Front Derailleur Adjustments. While you're there, check out and verify your rear as well, it won't hurt anything.

No problem. Dig around on that Park Tool site, there is tons of excellent information for the home mechanic. Also check out https://sheldonbrown.com . And of course, there are some very helpful folks here, too...don't be afraid to ask (though if/when you do ask, try to provide as much info as possible).
