Park Tools has a basic toolkit, model MK-129, which I would like to get eventually for basic bike mechanics... $4200 though. :/

The "big" spin Dr. kit is $109 online and you can use the 10% off coupon (6001738 thru 11/13) or the $20 off $50 (6001727 thru 12/4) plus the 10% back if you're a club member (plus shipping). The local store is giving 30% off the list price of $169, or 118 and change (although they would honor the $109 price but without further discount).

I stopped by the store because I got a postcard and email about their big "Markdown Madness" sale. There were some buys to be had but it seemed like they raised a number of prices from just a couple of days earlier. i.e. a 2006 bike on clearance ($1,999 list) was $1,399 a few days ago but $1,699 (plus 15% off) yesterday.

But I don't have anything to work on the drive system or headset.

Nashbar sells a set of tools that is on sale right now for $90 that sounds like a good deal. A lot of the stuff I already have, but there is enough there that I don't have to deserve some thought.

Question is ... is it worth it to buy this set, or are they crap that will fall apart? Furthermore, does this really cover the tools I will need? If not, what would be a better way to acquire the necessary tools? (

I have both mountain and road bikes, all with shimano components. Except for one ten speed which is suntour.)

Thanks for the help!

I bought the same tool kit a few years ago for about the same price. All in all I have been happy with it and it was a good value for me. If I had to do it again, I would not hesitate.

I don't use the supplied toolbox as I just put the stuff in my regular roll-away tool chest.
