Nexus 8, not engaging in 2, 3 and 4

i just installed a brand new nexus-8, red band premium hub on my bike. for the most part the hub shifts smoothly. however, when i freewheel in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear and then begin pedaling again the gears don't catch immediately. sometimes it takes 1 or 2 pedal revolutions to catch. is this normal? is there a way to fix this? i have a nexus 7 and this has never been a problem.

That's not normal. Is the alignment guide ok? When the bike is in 4 the two yellow parts in the little window on top of the hub should line up - you gotta adjust the barrel adjuster thingy on the twist shifter to get the adjustment right.

I just installed one a week ago and once the yellow marks were aligned I had no problems at all. Make sure you are lining them up with the shifter in 4th gear. Nexus 7 and 8 speed hubs need to be adjusted with the shifter in 4th! (thanks to Sheldon for that, because there was nothing in the literature that came with the hub!)
