New steer tube for a Rock Shox Judy?
I have a RS Judy with a 6" steer tube. Would it be possible to press this tube out and replace it with a longer one? My trusted LBS is (understandably) doubtful. I need another 1.5-2 inches at least.
Is there a safe way to extend the steer tube?
Anyone need an inexpensive fork?
Anyone have a cheapo rigid fork for my soon to be alu snow commuter?
TIA George in snowy Grand Rapids, MI.

It would be possible. Most any good machine shop would be able to do it and then fit the replacement.

You might want to contact these guys, https://www.sram.com/, before you try that.

what model of RS Judy do you have? Does it have a replaceable crown? Cause there are still crowns floating around out there.

Thanks, Rev. The link provided a FAQ list which precisely answered the question> Re-pressing a steertube may lead to metal fatigue/failure of the aluminum crown. Guess I won't be trying this one!. Will probably purchase a MTB fork and headset from the LBS and start the build. George

As much as I am the promoter of the LBS, you might want to check online. The pricing for suspension forks is awful for the LBS and there are some real deals to be had online. (Go ahead and get pricing with your local shop, they might give you a deal )
