Gouged spinergy freehub replacement
Hello All,
I was recently overhauling my bike after a season of cyclocross and noticed my freehub body was gouged by my cassette. It was properly torqued and a search over the internet noted that they used an aluminum freehub body.
I wanted to try and replace it with a steel body but I am not sure if I need to get an exact freehub body from spinergy or if I find a similar looking one from another manufacturer if that will work.
If anyone has experience with this, it would be much appreciated. Here are links to the spinergy aluminum replacement and a similar looking one from velo.
Thanks!!!!

The free hub body in your first link is for Campagnolo cassettes. Campagnolo uses deeper splines than Shimano cassettes do so using an alloy cassette body doesn't pose a problem. Is your bike equipped with Campy components?

We see gauged freehub splines all the time, and not just on AL bodies. If the gauging isn't too deep (and it takes a really deep/long gauge to make the cogs not fit) we just file off the raised tops of the gauges so the cog set slides on easily.
IIRC the Spinergy hubs are unique to them and will require their specific replacement. I really can't say for sure as we tend to shy from Spingery at the shop I work at. Come to think of it all the shops I've worked at chose to not sell them. I have had a few customers with their wheels that have gone directly to Spingery for parts and we have then installed the provided parts. Andy.

Thank you for all the replies! My apologies I edited the link above. I have shimano components. Called Spinergy and they only have aluminum bodies, hoping customer service gods can send a new one out my way.
Andrew, in your experience do the gouges tend to get worst over time? I filed them down and cassette is back on, but I'm worried next time I take it off the body will be twice as bad. I looked into the clip set and they do not work on newer shimano cassettes unfortunately, unless anyone has experience with them working on the 105-5700 cassette.
Thanks again all, your help is much appreciated!

I am not sure the reasoning behind it; however, their website said not for newer cassettes, in my case 105-5700 or newer. If anyone has experience using them on newer cassettes that would be the way to go. I'll contact American Classic and see if they have a reason.

If the same situation exists then the same results will repeat. I might say that the replacement of the freehub body is just one cost of using these wheels, or any wheel with an AL FH body. Andy.
