Is my BB servicable?
I own a Specialize Allez Sports Triple 2005.
Just recently (after a year of use, i purchased it new in summer '06) the pedals started to have a weird 'feel' in parts of the spin. Spinning the crank without the chain made me assume the issue was with the BB; There is a weird 'Swoosh' sound just at the beginning of the spin then it sounds like some tiny metal grind noise. Anyway, I assume it's the BB as I see no other reason for that sound.
Now, the question: Can I service the BB? I do not currently own the removal tool to find out, so I figured I'd ask before I get my wrench to it. Also, should I just go ahead and buy a replacement now at the same time as I buy the tool to remove the old one?
Thanks..

Your BB is sealed - either it works or you get a new one. You just have to decide what "works" means in your book. The non-drive-side cup may need tightening, or the whole BB may need to be cranked in a little more. Or your pedal is loose. Or your FD is out of adjustment. Or your pedals need lubing. There are many possibilities. Eliminate them one by one and you'll have your culprit. If it comes to it, a new BB is $25.
