options for installing campy veloce bb

Hi, I got a used campy veloce crankset and bottom bracket for a project bike I am working on. Now I realise I need a special BB tool to install. It is only $15 or so, but it's not like I will bve using it on a regular basis. Is there any way I can install the bottom bracket without the special tool and not destroying it (ie a large pipe wrench would probably work....but might leave a mark or two ) ? thanks

Either buy the tool or pay to have it installed. You will come out better buying it. A third option is if there is a bike coop around that rents tools.

Hate to admit it but I installed mine a few times using a screwdriver and a hammer. You could probably do better by using something plastic (tire lever?) instead of a pointy metal thing. Just make sure it's tight.

duct tape and hammers forever (just kidding..)
