Nice repair stand idea

Saw this on ebay: https://cgi.ebay.com/Bike-bicycle-rep...ayphotohosting

Pretty good idea. Thought I would pass it on. No dog in the hunt other than I thought it was a pretty good way to do an inexpensive stand.

Not a bad idea at all. It looks like it might be a little tight when trying to get the pedals going to do your derailleur adjustments, but you can modify it/adjust it a bit for that...Not gonna pay the dude 60 (or even 40) bucks for it, though.

My own stand is of very similar construction, also using an orange pipe clamp from Harbor Freight. I made it to clamp onto my Black & Decker workmate, instead of bolting to a wall. Mine uses a pre-bent section of 3/4 EMT to make the bend from horizontal to vertical, and the EMT then attaches to a reducer that's threaded onto a length of 1 1/4" pipe and a floor flange. Looks like this guy has come up with a better plan for tube/frame protection, though. That's something I'm still working on.

...makes me glad I've got a welder. I'm like a kid with his first bottle of Elmer's glue. "Let's see, how do I attach these vise grips to my stand... oh, I can just weld a nut on there... then weld a bolt onto the stand... OUCH! 10,000 degrees is hot!"

...of course I have a framing nailer too, so wood projects are fine...
