Replacement wheels - what do I need to know?

Hi,
I have volunteered to try to find a set of replacement wheels for a friends bike. They need to be cheap so I am going to look at second hand. So, I need to know exactly what I am looking for ie. can't just take the bike to the bike shop and let them choose. Trouble is, I won't have a chance to see the bike so I am relying and their description. I have already asked a few questions.

What I know about the bike...
-Mountain bike, so I am presuming 26" wheels
-Tyres approx. 2"
-V-brakes
-No suspension
-Quick release at least on the front wheel, not sure as yet about the rear wheel (she is getting back to me)

So, the important question....what else do I need to know to match up the replacement wheels?

Sorry if this seems a rudimentry question, but it has to be asked.

Thanks guys

Seriously, I'd look at picking up a whole bike on the cheap at a yard sale. You could probably do it for less than one used wheel at the shop.

You'll need to keep in mind the number of cogs on the back too.

I know someone who has some hanging around they can give to me for a decent price. I am hoping to use my sources rather than a yard sale.

So, number of rear gear cogs, OK.

Bikes: Still have a few left!

Perhaps the owner could see what size info is written on the rim of her bike wheel?
