Shimano 105 threaded headset

Hi all, Is there a way to re-grease the cartridge bearings of Shimano 105 threaded headset?

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

I just wipe them off a clean as possible then take a blob of grease and work it by hand all over the outside of the cartridges kneading it into what ever openings there are. There is no systematic way I know of.

BTW, new cartridges are available if yours get too worn. They are nearly the same price as a new headset but avoid having to remove and press in new races. Alternatively but the complete headset and just use the bearing cartridges.

It's probably something you're not supposed to do but I have peeled the seals off of cartridge bearings using a sharp knife. They will re-install. Vaying degrees of success in making them spin smoother, however. YMMV.

Thanks HillRider & vpiuva. Got new Shimano bearings for $20 Australian. Will put in the new ones & experiment with injecting grease into the old cartridges.
