Bottom Bracket shaft???

I have a set of FSA carbon cranks with the Octalink pattern. I also have a Dura Ace bottom bracket with the external bearings but it has no shaft through the middle of the BB. My question is - Can I buy this shaft for the BB Octalink setup and use these cranks or should I get some more parts.

Jeremy,

You're basically mis-matching your components. Your FSA Carbon cranks needs an octalink bottom bracket. While the bottom bracket cups that you have will only work with the newer Dura Ace cranks (not sure with 105 or ultegra).

So you either need to get an octalink bottom bracket or a Dura Ace crank. I suggest the former.

Thanks for the suggestion and information. I am new at this and just have a bunch of parts. I will get an Octalink bottom bracket.

Make sure you do some research to get the right size bottom bracket and spindle.

Are you sure it's Octalink? FSA used to sell Octalink and ISIS, now they sell only ISIS. ISIS looks like Octalink but is different and needs a different bottom bracket.

The frame is a Scott Speedster and I am pretty sure these only have English thread BBs and the FSA cranks have Octalink written on them somewhere.
What is a good BB to get. The only ones I have seen with Octalink have been the Shimano Ultegra and 105. I have not seen any others.
