multi to single speed conversion
Hi everyone. i recently broke the derailer on my peice of crap rhino mountain bike. at first i wanted to get a bmx bike, because i jump my bike alot. then i realized that the only reason that i wanted to get rid of my mountain bike, was because of the derailer, and the way it shifts gears when i land a large jump. i love the weight, and feel of the bike, so i have decided to convert it to a 1 speed bike. i have never really worked with bikes much, so i was wondering if anyone had any instructions, or reccomended parts. all help is appreciated.
THanks,
Parker

If you have horizontal drop outs, all you have to do is get rid of the ders and shorten the chain. Pick a gear that you like, I recommend you use the middle CR and then just cut the chain so it is tight on that gear combination. Not pretty, but it works.
