Drop bar/stem creaking sound. ??
I have a road bike with aluminum stem and drop bar. I recently flipped the stem and wrenched everything down tight. Now I get this creaking sound everytime I put pressure on the handlebar.
Does it need a lubricant, too tight, or not tight enough? It wasn't making this irritating sound prior to me flipping the stem.
cheers

Try taking it back apart and put just a dab of lube between the wedge and the stem. I mean JUST a dab. You only want the wedge to slip easy - all other surfaces in there need to stay dry and not slip. A fingertip of silicone lube wiped across the mating surface of the wedge is generally plenty.

Also grease the bolts, my stem creaked until I greased the bolts on the faceplate, now it's dead silent.
