It's funny because I put this dang thing together but that was like 7 years ago and now I cant seem to get the right side off. Here's pictures:









Can anyone give me any tips on how to get it apart?

Once I get it out I want to clean the whole thing. Get the chrome parts shining as best as I can. And replace any critical parts. I think I need a new sprocket and freewheel but I'm not sure what gearing to get? And what sprockets will fit? I need a chain but which one,? What size and length? And I want to get some new cages for those pedals but how do I know which ones will fit?

assuming everything is already lubed and all the pinch bolts are loose, you need to get a 3pc crank spindle remover, which is basically a fancy bolt that you screw onto the spindle and hit with a hammer to drive it out of the crank arm, though the BB, and out the other side of the frame.
Douse everything with penetrating oil a few hours before you start. After such a long time those cranks are probably going to need a lot of hammerin'

Couldnt I just put a board or a piece of wood up against it and hammer it?

I cant get the big aluminum clip on the left side to come off either. I have the tiny little bolt all the way out and it wont come off. It's weird because it all went together so easily. What else am I missing here?

Anyone else wanna chime in? Any help would be appreciated. I cant wait to get this thing rolling again.

Black Widows are great cranks, but it looks like those have led a rough life. Anyway, you need a crank puller, like the Park CCP-4 (~$15). Or get a bike shop to do it.

My only set of Widows has a completely different style of bottom bracket. Is that aluminum clip on the left side threaded onto the spindle? If not, remove the retainer bolt, slip a penny into the slot and thread the retainer bolt in backwards. Should spread it out easily.

Ok guys and gals. Justin on the BMX forum hooked me up and told me how to get it apart. There was no puller involved.

The little clamp on the opposite side as the sprocket is also a bolt and it screws off clockwise. That is all that was holding it together. Once I took that off the axle came out and I was able to pop out the bearings.

wouldn't you need a wrench to remove it though? or was it not very tight?

Yeah, I used a huge crescent wrench.
