Wont change into some gears!!!

hey everyone.


i have just bought a bike brand new and i can seem to set up the gears right. It wont change into some gears but it will go into others. Also the front derailer ALWAYS catches the side of the chain.

someone please help soon

Mich, if the bike is brand new, take it back and get them to adjust it for you.

i cant because it wasnt from a proper bike shop. It was from makro if youve ever heard of it

Well, take it to a real bike shop and let them help you. Pay them now or pay them later. (Or you can teach yourself. See Sheldon Brown's /Harris Cyclery website)

i just found out it was a manufacturing fault as a cable was too short.

what was happening was as you sat on the bike the cable loosened and changed gear by itself!!! When you get back off it tightened back up.

so im claiming the money back from raleigh as it was a manufacturing fault

ye it has the downhill suspension that goes all the way to the handle bars and rear suspension
