Quick Question about Crank Install?
I just wanted to make sure I am doing this right. I am installing an FC-R600 Shimano Compact Crank. Hollowtech II design. I installed the bottom bracket cups and snugged them to specs. How do I make sure I have the spindle in as far as it will go? Do I give it a couple of good smacks with the palm of my hand?
Thanks

Shouldn't have to hit it too hard. If you look really closely, you'll see a lip on the spindle that will butt up against the drive side bearing. It'll also be somewhat obvious when you install the left arm.

Right. A couple of firm smacks should seat it. Also, that little plastic cap on the non drive side of the spindle, should have a really low torque spec to pull the entire assembly together. If you torque all bolts to spec, it's pretty hard to screw it up. Remember to alternate tightening the tangential bolts on the non drive side crank arm.
