jtek query

Here is what I want to do.
Centaur 10 (NOS pre QS-alloy) brifters
jtek shiftmate
Ultegra 6500 (9spd) RD
10 speed shimano cassette.
Anyone done this or have any idea if it will work?

Thanks.

That's what JTek shiftmates are for.

I use a Jtek Model 3 with Centaur 9spd brifters, Shimano 600 rd and otherwise Shimano drivetrain. On another bike, I have the Model 3 with Veloce brifters, 105 rd, and otherwise Shimano drivetrain.

Both setups work flawlessly...in this case, the Jtek does "disappear" in your system. Well worth the 40 or so dollars.

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

I have a set of 10-speed Record (pre QS) brifters on an other wise all Shimano 9-speed drivetrain with a shiftmate and it shifts perfectly. Go for it.

I recently had a jtek installed with 07 Record QS brifters and Shimano 9 speed DuraAce RD, DuraAce crank, Ultegra FD, DuraAce chain and Ultegra 9 speed cassette. Works perfectly so far.

In this case the front shifting works properly because you are using Record (or Chorus) brifters. They retain the "micro shifting" feature that all Ergo brifters had pre-QS but is now gone from Centaur and below.

I respectfully disagree. I've run a Campy Shimano mix with a J-Tek on 3 different bikes for thousands of miles. No problem whatsoever. This is my set-up.

Campy Chorus Ergo 9 speed brifters
Campy Euclid frnt. dérailleur
Sugino XD 500 triple crank 48.36.24
Shimano XT M-750 rear dérailleur
12-34 Shimano XT cassette
J-Tek # 3 "shiftmate

I couldn't ask for better shifting, under load or not. Crisp, Smooth and noiseless.

If you don't find what you're looking for on the Jtek website then drop an email to them. They were very helpful when I was trying to cobble my shifting system together. They didn't have anything that worked with my particular combination, but said the tolerances were close enough that it would probably be OK, and would make something custom for me if it didn't.
