finally, pic of my first build
Attachment 66014
crappy pic, but here it is
soma smootie es tange prestige steel frame
ird 57 cf fork
thomson elite post
cane creek s3 headset
open pro rims with ultegra hubs
speedmax cx 35mm tires
105 dr's and brifters (pirated from my felt)
tektro long reach brakes
ultegra 12-27 cassette
saddle and bars came off of my felt z35
i had a shop cut the steerer tube and i bought the wheels complete.
not counting the upgrades to replace what i took off of my felt;
cost ~$700
with this wheelset, the bike weighs just over 21#. i don't know what it weighs when I have my 'road' wheelset on it.

Sounds like building the bike is even more fun than riding it.
Can you post a larger pic?

damn! get this;
i just told my boss that i finished my first build. he rides and is a triathelete. he said he just bought an s-works transition. full red group. he said there are only 2 in illinois right now. we're sponsoring a triathalon this summer and last night was the kickoff meeting. he had his bike there but i couldn't make it. i'll have to schedule a ride with him when the weather breaks.

had to find a combo of resizing and reduction in quality in order to get the pic small enough to post. not the greatest, but here's another pic.

It looks great.
So how do you like it? I just finished my first build (I really enjoyed it), a Soma Double Cross, and am thinking that a Smoothie ES might just be the next big thing!

Unfortunately, I'll probably need a 58! I hope you get to ride it soon--I have the same problem with my Double Cross: weather here (Oklahoma City) has been really crummy for weeks, either enormously windy if it's warm, or icy cold.
